Artist Statement

I believe in living for today and taking advantage of the opportunities currently in front of me. At the same time, I desire to maintain the perspective that we live to prepare for eternity.

I desire to constantly learn, and daily challenge myself intellectually, socially and spiritually. I believe that we must do this in community and with one another, and that much of our learning can come from those around us.

We survive this life because things that are perceived to be difficult and bitter can be made elegant and beautiful.

For the most part, I find that my art and design projects are inspired by the beliefs and life desires I have mentioned above. Concerning aesthetics and beauty, I find that beauty frequently is found in the bitter or commonplace things of life. I love grapefruits, green bananas and black coffee, because the feeling of bitterness reminds me of how alive I am. We survive this life because things that are perceived to be difficult and bitter can be made elegant and beautiful.

We are created in the image of a creative God, and I believe creativity empowers and unleashes abilities in people. I believe that by developing creativity in others, we are able to then empower them to make a difference in their communities. Internationally speaking, I believe this is an extremely effective way to reach the unreached and love the unloved.

I dream to develop creativity in others so that they can then use that creativity to make a difference in their communities.

I hope to one day incorporate these things I believe in to ultimately be the hands and feet that love the unloved and reach the unreached. I dream to develop creativity in others so that they can then use that creativity to make a difference in their communities.
